At St Thomas More’s Primary School, our Year 3 – 6 teachers engage students in learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum key learning Areas of Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Health and Physical Education, The Arts and Technologies. Our Year 3 - 6 teachers also engage students in learning experiences utilising the Brisbane Catholic Education Religious Education curriculum, providing students with a unique educational experience which assists in forming the child as a person of compassion, integrity, faith and wisdom.
We have also adopted the Toowoomba Catholic Schools (TCS) Reading and Writing Improvement Strategies, as well as the TCS Spelling Program, both of which assist students to develop both precision in and love of reading and writing.
Through all curriculum activities, our Year 3-6 teachers develop in students the core competencies of thinking critically, communicating clearly, working collaboratively and problem-solving, all of which students require in our ever-changing world.
Learning experiences are delivered in a caring and supportive environment and are designed to allow every student to progress at their own rate via the use of data-informed planning. Through all learning experiences, students are supported in developing their self-esteem, self-confidence, determination, and resilience to ensure that each student’s emotional, social and spiritual development is enhanced.
