Sporting

Students at St Thomas More's have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting events and activities each year.

Swimming instruction: Students from Prep to Year 6 participate in annual swimming lessons at the Darren Lang Swim Academy. These lessons enable students to develop both their skills and confidence in the water.

Sporting Gala Days: Each year, students in Year 4 participate in the Toowoomba Catholic Schools T-Ball, Soccer and Touch Football Gala Days. These days give students invaluable experience playing in a team and help prepare students for Interschool Sport in their senior years of primary school.

Interschool sport: Students in Year 5 and Year 6 participate in interschool sport in Term 1, Term 3 and Term 4 each year. Students have the opportunity to nominate to play a variety of sports including netball, soccer, touch football and AFL.

Specialist HPE lessons: Students from Prep to Year 6 participate weekly in HPE lessons with a specialist teacher. Students work on developing not only their physical skills, but their teamwork and confidence as well.

School Carnivals: Each year, St Thomas More’s students from Prep to Year 6 participate in cross Country, the athletics carnival and both junior (Prep to Year 2) and senior (Year 3 to Year 6) swimming carnivals.

Catholic Education Week Carnivals: Each year as part of the Diocesan Catholic Education Week celebrations, students in Year 5 and Year 6 are invited to participate in the Netball and Touch Football Carnivals.

All School Touch Football Carnival: Students in Year 5 and Year 6 are given the opportunity to compete in a series of All-School Touch Football Carnivals.

Tennis lessons: Tennis coach, Robert Williams, offers small group lessons to students from Prep to Year 6 based in our Sport Centre on a weekly basis.
